Daddy, Francis Adewunmi Ononuga is a Yoruba man born in Agbo Ile area at Oke Esure, Ijebu Imushin, Western Region of Nigeria on Wednesday 7th October, 1936. His own father was Pa Ononuga Apena-Ola and Ma Josephine Jolaade Apena-Ola. He was the ninth born of eleven children of his parents though he became the 5th son of the surviving seven children of his parents.
He attended St. Peters Catholic School, Esure, Imushin from 1942-1943, after which he went to St. Augustine Catholic School, Ijebu Ode from 1944-1949 for his standard school. He then went to Eredo Central Primary School where he completed his standard lower elementary education (1949-1950).
His Preparatory training school was at Igbeba, Ijebu Ode (1950-1951). From there, he gained admission into St. Leo Catholic Teacher Training College, Abeokuta (1951-1953), and he was part of the second set of students of the school at that time. He left for St. John's Teacher Training College, Ibadan to complete the grade 3 teacher training certification (1953-1954) and became a certified teacher.
He was posted to igangan, ibarapa, Western Region as the head teacher of St Anne's Catholic School. He was the first person to drive a vehicle to Igangan at that time and was received with drums and dances by the school pupils and teachers.
He was later transferred to Eruwa as the head teacher of St. Mary Catholic School. From there, he went back to St. Leo Catholic Teacher Training College, Abeokuta for his grade 2 teaching certificate.
On obtaining his grade 2 teaching certificate, he was assigned to Technical School Ijebu Ode from there, he was transferred to Catholic Secondary Modern School, Iwo, Western Region where he taught for a year. He got transferred to Ibadan as a class teacher at CKC primary School, Odo Ona Apata for a year and later to secondary Modern school Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
From there, he was transferred to St. John's Catholic Primary School, Eleta, Ibadan where he was head teacher (class 2) for nine (9) years before he was promoted to class one (1) headteacher at St. Andrew's Protestant Primary School, Idi Oro, Ibadan for 2years.
He later went back to the new Ogun State in 1976 where he was headteacher of St. Joseph Catholic Primary School, Ayila, Ogun State for 1 year; a town notorious for strange witchcraft occurrences (such as a bird-carrying pregnant goat in broad daylight).
From Ayila, he went back to Catholic Primary School Ijebu Ode within the same year and to Islamic Moslem Primary School Imosan (his very first Muslim primary teaching School), where he spent the next 9 years.
From there, he was transferred to Anglican Primary School, Ikangba for a year and from there to St. Joseph Catholic Primary School, Ibefun. Then he was transferred to Ebenezer UNA Primary School, Omu, Ijebu where he was headteacher till he retired in June 1988.
He is a passionate headteacher, who delights in molding the lives of young people and making them responsible citizens. He was also a passionate agriculturist, who reared different livestock such as chickens, ducks, goats, sheep, rabbits, pigeons, snails, pigs, and fishes (catfish and tilapia).
He loves carpentry, drawing, and electrical repairs. He also likes sports like table tennis and football. He plays Ludo, Ayo Olopon, monopoly, drafts, etc. He enjoys meeting people and loves making people happy. He is popularly called Baba Obanta because his wife had a maternity hospital named Obanta maternity home. He loves investing in real estate and has plots of land to his credit.
He traveled to Gambia in 2022 in the company of his daughter Onoyemi and granddaughters Ire and Ireti, where he visited his son-in-law Ps. Gbenga Ajibola.
He got married to Mrs. Hannah Adunni Ononuga and was blessed with seven children (3 sons and 4 daughters). His favorite vehicle is a Volkswagen brand (beetle).
